My name is Carrie Samples. *My inactive policy number with Farmer's is ********** AUTO.*My issue is that I had myself and two other drivers insured under MetLife for over five years (two of us never having to file any claims at all the entire time.). Our policy was going to be up in August so we asked around and ended up signing with Geico with our coverage scheduled to start when MetLifes ended. MetLife unfortunately got bought out by Farmer's sometime between June and July. and Farmer's stated they sent me letters but because I wasn't with them and didn't know the buy out happened, I never opened them, just figured they were junk mail. Long story short, they ended up cancelling my policy and because I never opened the letters, we ended up with a a month long gap in insurance that is going to cost us **** in DMV fines. We were loyal customers for over five years but because Farmer's has different rules regarding autopay, and we had to use a different card for the month of June, our typical payment schedule revised unknowingly, our due date changed, and our policy was cancelled due to lack of payment before our normal due date of over five years even passed. We had already opted to switch companies at the end of our policy in August, but due to these unwarranted changes to our payment schedule, all three vehicles have suspended registrations and are being fined $*,*** by the DMV. Had this been better communicated, we would have asked that GEICO start their coverage the day we got quoted. We cannot afford to pay the fines as we are already struggling financially but when I called customer service at Farmer's, they did not have a solution of any kind. At this point we feel victimized and hopeless and it seems all loyalty we showed MetLife went out the door when Farmer's officially took over.
