I need a rental car, but the thing is something came up last minute and I need it very quickly. I thought I might have more luck if I called on the phone and talked to someone. I'm sure that there are a lot of reasons people might call from bookings to roadside service, but figured it was worth a shot. I had nothing left to lose if it didn't work.
I gave this number a try and was greeted by an automated agent who said, "Thank you for calling Budget customer service. This call may be recorded for quality purchases. If you are calling to make a reservation, press 1. To modify, extend, or cancel a reservation or rental, press 2. If you are calling about a rental you’ve already had, press 3. For any emergency roadside issues, press 4."
I pressed that I needed a reservation and it asked if I needed a car or truck rental. Once I responded I needed a car, the automated agent said, "Okay, car. Let me quickly get some basic information, and then I’ll contact you to a representative. Please say your six-digit rapid Budget reservation number. You can say, please hold. If you don’t have one, just say, I don’t have one."
Then I said that I didn't have a number, and it told me to hold for a minute. It played hold music for about a minute and then there was dead air. I waited a minute, but I think something went wrong with their line. So I called again and went through the same process and this time was placed on hold and then sent to an agent. That was kind of a pain, but the wait time wasn't too bad and the agent was helpful so I would still call again.
